Salento Peninsula

The Salento peninsula is the "heel" of the Italian "boot". It is part of Apulia (Puglia) and mainly consists of the province of Lecce. The city of Lecce is famous for its splendid baroque architecture. Other highlights are Gallipoli and Otranto at the mediterranean. More photos of the Salento Peninsula can be seen in the Panorama photos from southern Italy and the Italy black and white gallery.
